Expression of the human apolipoprotein E/apolipoprotein C-I gene locus in transgenic mice

John M. Taylor; W Scott Simonet; Stephen J. Lauer; Harshini V. de Silva

Expression of the human apolipoprotein (apo)E and apoC-I genes in transgenic mice revealed the presence of several independent tissuespecific control elements distributed throughout this gene locus. A shared liver-specific domain was found downstream of the apoC-I gene, and the apoE/apoC-I intergenic region contains a kidney-specific silencer, a brain enhancer, and a skin enhancer.

Journal of Biological Chemistry | 1994

Overexpression of human apolipoprotein C-III in transgenic mice results in an accumulation of apolipoprotein B48 remnants that is corrected by excess apolipoprotein E.
