Featured researches published by Steven R. Woulfe.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1984

Heteroatom activated β-lactam antibiotics: Synthesis of biologically active substituted N-oxy-3-amino-2-azetidinones (oxamazins)

Steven R. Woulfe; Marvin J. Miller

Abstract Representatives of a new class of oxygen activated β-lactams (oxamazins) have been synthesized from N-hydroxy-3-amino-2-azetidinones. The oxamazins show significant activity predominantly against Gram negative bacteria.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1985

Efficient N-sulfenylation of 2-azetidinones using S-substituted thiophthalimides

Steven R. Woulfe; Hisao Iwagami; Marvin J. Miller

Abstract Reaction of N-unsubstituted β-lactams with various S-substituted thiophthalimides provides an efficient route to the corresponding N-thio-2-azetidinones.
