An updated species list of four beetle families is given for Turkey. A total of 35 genera and 167 species and subspecies are known to occur in Turkey. Ten species and two subspecies are from the family Gyrinidae, 16 species are from the family Haliplidae, three species are from the family Noteridae and 129 species and seven subspecies are from the family Dytiscidae.

A new record is reported of the oak gallwasp Aphelonyx persica on oaks (Quercus cerris, Q. ithaburensis, Q. trojana) in the Inland Aegean Region of Turkey. This species is recorded for the first time on Q. cerris and Q. trojana. Details are given of the geographical distribution, hosts and phenology.

Abstract The recently described Hydrochara major İncekara, Mart, Polat, & Karaca, 2009 from Turkey is transferred to the genus Brownephilus Mouchamps. New records and habitat information are given for the species, as well as diagnostic features for separating it from the only other described member of the genus, Brownephilus levantinus Balfour-Browne. The discovery of Brownephilus in Turkey marks the first time the lineage has been found since its original description more than seventy years ago.

ABSTRACT: We collected Diplolepis spp. galls on Rosa canina L. between April and September in 2007, 2008 and 2009 in the Inner Western Anatolian. In this study, only inquilines Periclistus brandtii were reared from Diplolepis mayri (Schlechtendal), 1877 galls on laboratory conditions. Periclistus brandtii is a new record for Turkey fauna at genus and species levels. The characteristic features are briefly described; data on distribution and ecological notes are also given. We also discuss effects of Periclistus brandtii on Diplolepis galls and Rosa canina.

The number of valid species of oak gallwasps of the family Cynipidae recorded from Europe and contiguous territories, including North Africa and Turkey, is about 300 (NIEVESALDREY 2001, STONE et al. 2001). A recent study by STONE et al. (in press) reported 133 oak cynipids from the Western Palaearctic. Despite a high species diversity in Turkey, there are only relatively few records. Previous studies in Turkey mostly covered the oak gallwasps (tribe Cynipini) as forest pests (KATILMI & KIYAK 2008, KIYAK et al 2008, MELIKA & STONE 2001, MELIKA et al. 2004). KATILMI & KIYAK (2008) listed 81 species of Cynipidae from Turkey, and another species was subsequently recorded as new to Turkey by KATILMI & KIYAK (2009). This study was carried out in the Inner Aegean region of Turkey in 2007 and 2008. Galls have been preserved in 70% alcohol and emerged adults pinned and dried. The material is deposited in the Zoology Museum of Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey.

In this study, two diving beetles species are described as new to the Turkish fauna: Ilybius ater (De Geer, 1774) and Hydaticus seminiger (De Geer, 1774). For the latter species, this is also the first record from the Middle East region. Both were found in the southwestern Anatolia region. The specimens are deposited in the Zoological Museum of Gazi University (ZMGU), Ankara, Turkey. The genus Ilybius Erichson comprises 67 species in four species groups. Most species have a wide distribution, and live mainly in stagnant water with rich vegetation. Only six species are known from Turkey: Ilybius chalconatus (Panzer, 1796), Ilybius fuliginosus fuliginosus (Fabricius, 1792), Ilybius jaechi (Fery & Nilsson, 1993), Ilybius quadriguttatus (Lacordaire, 1835), Ilybius satunini (Zaitzev, 1913) and Ilybius wewalkai (Fery & Nilsson, 1993) (GUEORGUIEV 1981, FERY & NILSSON 1993, NILSSON 2003, KIYAK et al. 2007). Ilybius hulae (Wewalka, 1984), which was originally known only from northern Israel, is listed by NILSSON (2003) also from Turkey. Hydaticus Leach is a large genus of dytiscid beetles. This genus is almost worldwide in distribution, with most of the roughly 150 species inhabiting the Old World tropics (NILSSON 1995). So far, four species have been recorded from Turkey: Hydaticus grammicus (Germar, 1827), Hydaticus leander (Rossi, 1790), Hydaticus ponticus Sharp, 1882 and Hydaticus transversalis laevisculptus Zaitzev, 1910 (WEWALKA 1979, GUEORGUIEV 1981, NILSSON 2003, KIYAK et al. 2007). The senior author visited the localities of the new records in southwestern Turkey (Eber Lake and Değirmen brook) two times in 2007 and 2008, but he was not able to collect more material.
