An efficient synthetic approach for N–C bond formation from (S)-amino acids: an easy access to cis-2,5-disubstituted chiral piperazines

An efficient synthetic strategy is described for the construction of amino acids derived enantiomerically pure cis-2,5-disubstituted chiral piperazines. Cu-catalyzed spontaneous regioselective ring opening and ring closing of non-activated N-tosyl aziridines as well as Pd-mediated N–C bond formation from N-tosyl halogenated amino-derivatives are the key steps for accessing disubstituted piperazines.

Microwave assisted [RuCl2(p-cymene)2]2 catalyzed regioselective endo-tandem cyclization involving imine and alkyne activation: an approach to benzo[4,5]imidazo[2,1-a]pyridine scaffold

A microwave assisted efficient route to the synthesis of benzimidazole fused heterocycles through metal catalyzed endo-cyclization strategy involving imine and alkyne activation has been developed. In the presence of [RuCl2(p-cymene)2]2, a variety of 2-ethynyl aldehydes underwent cascade cyclization with substituted benzenediamines to afford the corresponding benzo[4,5]imidazo[2,1-a] pyridine scaffold in moderate to good yields.

Diversity oriented synthesis of chromene-xanthene hybrids as anti-breast cancer agents

A diverse library of chromene-xanthene hybrids were synthesized through intramolecular Friedel-Crafts reaction of the arenoxy carbinols. Examples include first incorporation of amino acid tyrosine into xanthene skeletons with polar functionalities. A careful structural evaluation revealed that tyrosine crafted chromene-xanthene hybrids exhibited good activities against breast cancer cell lines MCF-7, MDA-MB-231. The lead compound 16 displays significant cell cycle arrest at G1 phase and induces apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 cells.
