The Changing Patterns of Investment Rule-Making Issues and Actors

Foreign investment plays a pivotal role in most countries’ development in many ways. The benefits of inward investment include, amongst others, the following: developing a sound economic structure; increasing and diversifying manufacturing; offering novel and more developed services; creating employment; and bringing innovative technology. Conversely, outward investment can bring long-term capital gains to the home country, help to build economic and political ties with other nations, and, in some cases, to ensure access to critical natural resources.
