This paper focuses on the designing of Integer order & fractional order PID controllers. Various tuning techniques are used for the designing of the PID controllers and the Fractional order PID controllers (FOPID). Ziggler Nicholas method, Cohencoon, Astrom-Hagglund (AMIGO), Chien-Hrones-Reswick methods are used to find proportional, derivative & integral parameters of PID & FOPID. Nelder Mead optimization technique is used to determine the specialized fractional order parameters for FOPID. The complete algorithm or the tuning process of each and every method has been explained and discussed. All the designs & their step response is specified & all the characteristics of the systems are discussed.

This paper is based on designing of digital Proportional-integral derivative (PID) controller which controls the blood glucose level of diabetic patient. The main objective is to design a digital PID controller using tuning rules like Ziegler-Nichols and Cohen-Coon method. The responses are studied & parameters are compared. Best response given by the PID is converted into Digital PID. Different transformation methods are also studied to convert the conventional PID into the digital PID controller.

This paper is based on introducing the fractional order elements to improvise the performance of traditional PID controllers. In the complete procedure the different tuning parameters (Kp, Ki, Kd) and the differ-integrals order (λ, μ) of the controller are being obtained using various optimization techniques so that the performance of the heating furnace can be meliorated. The plant (heating furnace) and the different FOPID controllers designed using optimization techniques are kept in a closed loop & the time response characteristics are analyzed. The paper also demonstrates the mathematical modeling of the heating furnace which is being done using the Laplace transform and is in the integer order form or we can say that it is an integer order model.

The locale of the paper is to ameliorate the performance of the heating furnace. The AMIGO tuning technique is utilized to find tuning parameters (Kp, Ki and Kd) for designing the controller. Various optimization techniques available like Nelder-Mead, Interior-Point, Active-Set and SQP are used to find the value of differ-integrals (λ and μ). Utilizing all the values obtained by the mentioned techniques the PID controller with fractional elements is designed to meliorate the performance of the heating furnace when it is being placed in a closed loop along with the controller.

Over the year heating furnace system has always suffered a huge loss of heat energy the line of safety of man power. The flow of fuel into chamber of furnace, basically limits the gas pressure inside furnace. So, proper relation between fuel flow rate and gas pressure inside furnace is essential to ensure a proper utilization of heat with minimum settling time and minimum overshoot, so that safety is not compromised. This paper enlightens design of a proper integer order model (IOM) of heating furnace which is further converted into a fractional order model (FOM). This fractional order model is used with PID controllers in closed loop. For enhancing the performance of PID controller, fractional elements are used. Therefore, PIλDμ controller is optimized properly for a smooth, low overshoot response with a very low settling time. These proposed results may be implemented properly in small scale furnaces or large scale industrial furnaces.

In this paper the digital PID (Proportional-integral derivative) controller is designed based on controlling the blood glucose level of diabetic patient. The main objective is to design a digital PID controller for blood glucose level of diabetic patient which can inject external insulin to the patient in a accurate controlled way. The blood sugar level of the patient is considered as input variable & injected insulin level is considered as output variable which is to be manipulated. A dynamic model is constructed & transfer function is defined for this system. Using various tuning rules like Cohen-Coon method, Astrom-Hagglund or AMIGO method and Chien-Hrones-Reswick (CHR) method the Proportional, Integral & Derivative coefficient. The tuning responses are studied & parameters are compared. Best response given by the PID is converted into Digital PID. In this paper we also studied different transformation method to convert the conventional PID into the digital PID controller.
