Sphaeroliodes rufescens Portevin new to Korea (Coleoptera: Leiodidae: Leiodinae)

The genus and species of Sphaeroliodes rufescens Portevin are recorded for the first time in Korea. A habitus photo as well as description and illustrations of diagnostic characters are provided.

Descriptions of Two New Species of the Genus Colon Herbst (Coleoptera: Leiodidae: Coloninae) from Korea and Japan

Abstract Two new species, Colon (Myloechus) koreanus new species (type locality—Mt. Odaesan, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Prov., Korea) and C. (M.) shini new species (type locality—Mt. Odaesan, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Prov., Korea), of the genus Colon Herbst are described from Korea and Japan. Types and paratypes of the new species are designated. The subfamily Coloninae and the genus Colon are reported for the first time in Korea. Colon (Myloechus) shini is the eighth species recorded from Japan. A key to the species of Colon in Korea and Japan, and illustrations of diagnostic features of the two new species are presented.

A Taxonomic Study of the Genus Agathidium Panzer (Coleoptera: Leiodidae) from Korea, Part II. Subgenus Agathidium

A taxonomic study of the subgenus Agathidium of the genus Agathidium Panzer in Korea is presented. Four species [Agathidium (Agathidium) coreanum Angelini, A. (A.) crassicorne Portevin, A. (A.) merkli Angelini, and A. (A.) oblongum Angelini] are recognized. Agathidium (A.) mequignoni Roubal recorded by Angelini is misidentification of A. (A.) crassicorne Portevin. Spermatheca of A. (A.) merkli is illustrated for the first time. A key to the species, diagnoses and illustrations of diagnostic characters are provided.

The Korean Species of the Genus Baeocera (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Scaphidiinae)

Two new rove beetle species of the genus Baeocera Erichson were described from Korea by examining specimens of the subfamily Scaphidiinae. Baeocera choi sp. nov. is similar in appearance to B. caliginosa Löbl, 1984, but differs in coloration of the dorsum and in structure of the parameres. Baeocera koreana sp. nov. is similar in appearance to B. takizawai Löbl, 1984, but differs in body size and punctated elytra. Baeocera freyi Löbl, 1966, also was found in the collection specimens. A taxonomic key is proposed to separate these 3 species, and diagnostic characters accompanied by illustrations are included.

First record of the family Cerylonidae (Coleoptera: Cucujoidea) in Korea

The beetle family Cerylonidae, represented by Cautomus hystriculus Sharp, is identified for the first time in Korea. A habitus photo, redescription, diagnostic characters and illustrations of the species are provided.

Taxonomy of the genus Rhizophagus Herbst (Coleoptera: Monotomidae: Rhizophaginae) in Korea

A taxonomic study of the genus Rhizophagus Herbst in Korea is presented. Three species –Rhizophagus (Anomophagus) puncticollis Sahlberg, Rhizophagus (Rhizophagus) japonicus Reitter and Rhizophagus (Rhizophagus) nobilis Lewis – are recognized. The genus and species are recorded for the first time in Korea. A key, habitus photos, descriptions, and illustrations of diagnostic characters of known Korean Rhizophagus species are given.

Taxonomy of the tribe Cephenniini Reitter (Coleoptera: Scydmaenidae) in Korea

A taxonomic study of the tribe Cephenniini Reitter in Korea is presented. Two genera and two species –Cephennodes japonicus (Sharp) and Chelonoidum graeseri (Reitter) – are recognized. The genus and species Cephennodes japonicus is recorded for the first time in Korea. A key, descriptions and illustrations of diagnostic characters of known Korean Cephenniini species are given.

A taxonomic study of the genus Zeadolopus Broun in Korea is presented. Two species, Zeadolopus chaosicus Daffner and Z. japonica (Champion), are recognized and the latter is recorded for the first time in Korea. A key, diagnoses, and illustrations of diagnostic characters are provided.
