The development of prediction researching on heat exchanger fouling in recent years is reviewed. The application of Support Vector Machine based on Statistical Learning Theory to predict heat exchanger fouling is reported in this paper. We construct a six-inputs and one-output network according to the fouling monitor principle and parameters, the modeling of the SVM programmed with MATLAB, and trained with V-SVR algorithm, all training data came from the Automatic Dynamic Simulator of Fouling and input the network after normalized processing and reclassification. Simulations show that the relative error of fouling prediction is less than 0.3 percent, and better than the RBF. SVM can be used to predict heat exchanger fouling, and has perfect prediction precision. The prediction model based on SVM offers anther method for the research of heat exchanger fouling.

The paper proposes a new online monitoring and evaluation method, and introduces mainly the measuring principle, the structure, and the performance of a monitoring system based on the above principle.

Based on the description and analysis of Ultrasonic technique used for fouling detection, ultrasonic excitation circuits was designed. The ultrasonic excitation circuits are composed of the timer chip circuit to generate resonant wave, and high-speed MOSFET drivers to control MOSFET. The circuits produce high-voltage pulse wave with capacitor instantaneous electric discharge, and generate high-pressure continuous wave with the power supply voltage act on the transducer directly. The experiment proved that the electric circuits can produce about the 300V pulse voltage, and meet the specification and request to detect pipe surface fouling completely.

After analyzing the characteristic of ICT (industrial computerized tomography) image and wavelet transformation singularity, an crack edge checking method for coal CT image based on SVM was studied and improved, and applied in crack edge checking of Coal CT image. First we get the direction and approximate bound of the crack using SVM, and then compare the average area grayscale to locate the crack area. At last, we adopt LS-SVM to detect the crack edge, which is processed using polynomial fit to get an accurate, continuous and independent crack edge image. The experiment of Coal CT image rotation validates the robustness of this algorithm, and the comparative experiments with other method prove that the algorithm has strong robustness against noise.

Based on the new performance evaluation criterion system (PECS) for enhanced convective heat transfer techniques, an evaluation equipment of enhanced heat exchange tube was developed. The equipment structure and functions, parameters measurement and control of auxiliary system were introduced in detail. The monitoring and control software was programmed with the Delphi 7.0, and be used to realize the data acquisition and processing, database operation and management, and many other functions. A kind of new type enhanced heat exchange tube was tested. The experience result shows that apparatus is feasible to evaluate the performance of enhanced convection techniques.
