The virtual product development is the unified process of product design, evaluation and validation. Ergonomics analysis is the important step for product validation in the process, and the virtual human is key to the computer-aided product ergonomics. In this paper, ergonomics simulation system is studied based on some elements of ergonomics analysis and assessment. An ergonomics virtual human is built, which is a unified framework made up of biomechanics/physiologybased model, anthropometrical model, posture and motion model, task model, human reactions and decision-making model and human factor analysis model. The framework is applied to virtual prototyping and virtual product development. 2007 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

In the field of Kansei Engineering, Semantic Differential (SD) is a typical method in evaluating conceptual products. We design a WEB-based kansei questionnaire system to generate a Decision Table(DT) which is composed of typical form features(condition attributes) and kansei words(decision attributes) through SD methods; by using statistical tools, frequent records are stored to DT as decision rules which are indexed by kansei word. First, some rules which have important contributions to the corresponding kansei evaluation will be extracted through the attribute reduction algorithm of Rough Set Theory(RST). Second, the size of decision table has been reduced through association rule mining based on Rough set and rules joining operating; finally, strong association rule set which describe the relation between the key form feature and the corresponding kansei word is generated. The proposed method has been successfully implemented in cell phone design case.

Conceptual design is important in that it determines the creativity of products, which is key to the competition of the product market and the function and cost of product are mainly determined in this phase. At the same time it is complex in that it involves the consideration of many different fields in the whole design process. Studying some computer supported cooperative techniques to support effective conceptual design activity is absolutely necessary. This paper presents the models and tools of computer supported cooperative conceptual design (CSCCD) which includes an auto‐resolving model, a human‐human interaction model, automatic cooperation tools and interactive cooperation tools. Experiments have been carried out in the conceptual design of a motorcycle to put the above theories into application.

To evaluate the perception of subjective sitting comfort requires overall comfort and local comfort as main indexes .The reliability and validity of a rating scale which was designed to measure local and overall comfort of two separate sitting postures on an adjustable chair was examined. The subjects included 20 males and 20 females, ranging in age from 22 to 32 (Mean=27, SD=4.7). Overall comfort was evaluated by direct or indirect method. The indirect overall comfort measure cannot substitute for direct measure from experimental data. As a result, the linear regression models were constructed between direct overall and local sitting comfort. The overall comfort can be predicted by three local comfort indexes.

Music emotional design has been studied for many years, and there has been a growing interest in analyzing and design emotion in music by the evolutionary algorithms. Therefore, its necessary to organize and categorize representative literature. The study presents an exhaustive survey of studies on one or more aspects of music emotional design by the evolutionary algorithms. In doing so, a classification of the literature based on the goal of what the studies want to achieve is developed. Such a classification not only highlights the significant results and unifies existing work, but also provides a foundation for future research in Music Emotional Design by the evolutionary algorithms.

The concept about slice server of visual human will be studied and applied in 3D-human dataset (which is applied in 3D-reconstruction of human skull and facial blood vessel in this paper). Based on this foundation, we bring forward the thoughts about the computer slice server model and found the basic framework. Further more, we resolved the problem about the location, extraction and displaying of slices and develop the prototype system applying with our dataset by the tools - OpenGL

Product design is a systematic project. Only if the designer understand the whole information framework about the design, can the design quality be guaranteed and the creativity be raised. According to the source and target, the information framework can be sorted into 5 parts: culture and custom-design background information, dynamic market-design strategy information, design center-user-creative design information, appearance-design image information, technology project-design realization information. Whats more, the information analysis framework can not only help to settle the design black box problem, but also give theoretical support to the intelligence computer aided industrial design
