TWO-PARTICLE DISTRIBUTIONS IN THE DUAL RESONANCE MODEL.

Sunao Sakai

Two-particle distributions are investigated in the framework of the dual resonance model. The distribution functions have the limit in the following cases: i) the particles produced are both in the same fragmentation region of the target or the projectile, ii) both particles are in the pionization region, iii) one is in the fragmentation region of the target and the other is in that of the projectile. However, in the case that one is in the fragmentation region while the other is in the pionization region, the distribution function decreases rapidly. In the limiting distribution of case ii), the distribution function shows exponential cutoff with respect to the transverse momentum of the produced particles in the rest frame of the target.

Scaling and Duality Scheme in Deep Inelastic Processes

Sunao Sakai; Noboru Yamazaki

The two component duality sum rule proposed by Bloom and Gilman is studied. Our analysis revealed that if finite energy sum rule is modified to take the average over the region where N(980), N* (1520) and ,::( (1236) are -inCluded, the Regge pole-resonance duality is compatible with scaling fairly well. However the Pomeron-background duality is not so satisfactory as in the case of Regge pole-resonance duality. Further, the scaling of the background part of 11W, is reasonable but not complete. Therefore the fixed pole at J=O (if any) is expected to be mainly related to Pomeron or background part of 11 w.. The sign of the residue of fixed pole is very likely to be ~ositive at large q•.
