In this work, we explain the design of a chat robot that is specifically tailored for providing FAQBot system for university students and with the objective of an undergraduate advisor in student information desk. The chat robot accepts natural language input from users, navigates through the Information Repository and responds with student information in natural language. In this paper, we model the Information Repository by a connected graph where the nodes contain information and links interrelates the information nodes. The design semantics includes AIML (Artificial Intelligence Mark up Language) specification language for authoring the information repository such that chat robot design separates the information repository from the natural language interface component. Correspondingly, in the experiment, we constructed three experimental systems (a pure dialog systems associated with natural language knowledge based entries, a domain knowledge systems engineered with information content and a hybrid system, combining dialog and domain knowledge). Consequently, the information repository can easily be modified and focussed on particular topic without recreating the code design. Experimental parameters and outcome suggests that topic specific dialogue coupled with conversational knowledge yield the maximum dialogue session than the general conversational dialogue.

With recent expansions of IT convergence equipment, more and more mobile communications—related devices are used in many fields, and mobile communications—based projects are underway in various venues, such as u-cities, u-ports, u-health, and u-traffic. In particular, owing to increasing demand for personal services due to the rapid increase in the elderly population and rapid development of convergence technology, the increased competition among mobile communications institutions, etc., is shifting towards consumeroriented services, giving priority to the expectations and desires of consumers when delivering ubiquitous services. As a result, the use of mobile communications technology is increasing in convergence-related fields. Mobile communications systems for convergence environments pose many research challenges. Among these is processing overhead in service environments [13–18]. Therefore, novel techniques, architectures, algorithms, and experiences regarding multimedia applications and industry services must be considered. Some of these research areas are listed below.

The increasing inclusion of plethora of sensors in sophisticated and latest generation smart phones opens new avenues for Data Mining applications for activity recognition, a task which involves identifying the physical activity a user is performing. In this paper, we describe and evaluate phone-based accelerometers to perform activity recognition. In order to implement our system, we collected labeled accelerometer data from twenty-three users as they performed daily activities such as strolling, running, climbing stairs, Relaxing (sitting inhaling), and Relaxing(standing exhaling), and then aggregated this time series data into examples that summarize the user activity over 10-second intervals. We transformed raw data into examples by tracing of action duration and segmented acceleration data by equal binning to make it a training data for input. We then used the resulting training data to induce a predictive model for activity recognition. We use WEKA data mining tools for data preprocessing and classification. Experimentation carried out based on our data classification stages eventually traces activities with finer accuracy.

A critical capability required for operating in today’s information overload is the ability to aggregate information from disparate sources into a unified coherent form. To date, almost majority contents of shopping mall are built by technology that is not regarding as integration and extension. We need to make a meta-data and product lists additionally if we want to use comparison-shopping. However, this meta-data does not contain semantics, it can only serve text searching. For this reason, a buyer wastes time costs to get any information in which they are really interested. Moreover, comparison shopping malls are adapted by their own technology; therefore it is also impossible to share their products information. In this paper, we use semantic web technology DAML+OIL. By using this, we make ontology for each shopping mall, and we define concept and structure and we made DAML markup instance data, then extracted semantic factors using DAMLJessKB. We also used these extracted semantic factors as a fact for the JESS inference engine, so that we can make it possible to inference and provide reasoning in web data structures. Our approach allows inference to be carried out when a query is processed and done. Thereby, to validate our approach, we have implemented a working prototype based on and then used the above semantic web inference-system.

Convergence-based service environments are embedded in large-capacity servers and adopt client/server models. Applications, devices, networks, and infrastructure are converging and creating an immense amount of content, which poses complex challenges for organizations, developers and users. In the field of security, we are seeing the convergence of frameworks and paradigms like augmented reality, ubiquitous computing and pervasive computing; and we are seeing new kinds of content, much of it user-generated, that can be searched, organized and consumed on many devices and in many formats [10–15]. The challenges of converged security, hacking, computer virology technologies and content require new algorithms, application paradigms, interaction methods, and services; the creation of expressive annota-

The aim of this study is to recommend relevant information to users by organizing user communities on electronic learning environment. In this paper, we propose a weblog-based approach to modeling users during collaborative learning process. Thereby, we formulate user behaviors on blogosphere, e.g., posting articles, linking to neighbors, and interactions between neighbors. These user models are capable of being compared with others to quantify similarities between users. We apply co-occurrence analysis methods. In this study, we deploy BlogGrid platform to support information pushing service to students. Through our experimental results, we found out that average weighting measurement scheme with co-occurrence patterns from responding (e.g., comments and trackback) activities is the most significant patterns for information pushing on collaborative learning.

Convergence and advanced technologies spring forth as a result of lateral entry by firms in different markets, and today, there is a synergistic combination of traditional industries and state-of-the-art technologies, such as information technology. The main goal of this issue is to bring researchers from academia together with professionals from different industries to share algorithms, solutions, and architectures as well as their experiences. We expect this special issue to be viewed as a continuum of products and as the lateral entry of research from different technological perspectives on digital management. The effort diffuses technological competencies and values within existing technologies’ base information systems. The convergence process blurs traditional technological and sectorial boundaries and thus opens new avenues of technological innovation in ubiquitous technologies [1, 4, 6, 10, 15]. This issue challenges processing overhead in convergence and advanced technologies. The paper by Kim et al. [5] introduces an efficient mobility management scheme for convergence of mobile media multicast services in next-generation networks. The proposed scheme applies a method to quickly rejoin a relevant multicast stream by enabling the AIMSMM system to collect multicast group information through a multicast group information handler located in the multicast router. The paper by Oh et al. [2] presents the development of a one-source multi-use cross-platform based on zero coding. This method is to research and develop a native application–based development tool that can perfectly satisfy both onesource–multi-use and cross-platform, and secure stable hardware control and execution speed. The paper by Je-Ho Park [19] presents low-cost image indexing for a massive database. The proposed method is an identifier generation for indexing that is efficient and effective from the perspective of cost and indexing performance, in order to compose identifiers with high cardinality. The paper by Jo et al. [9] presents an access control system for secure extensible markup language (XML) telemedicine documents. The study nurtures the construction of user interaction in collaborative filtering system during recommendation time and thereby, seek for the contextual information to form contextualized collaborative recommendation. Firstly, contextualized token recommendation have been based on the memory based collaborative filtering techniques where recommendation for a given user is computed based on the weighted neighborhood technique for prediction which ultimately stores the long-term interest of the user and serves as a user context. Furthermore, our system let the users interact with the recommendation, which change the weight of the prediction and form the user short-term preference. We argue that user feedback upon recommendation given by a system, help a system to model user context during such feedback and in preliminary settings provide experimental evidence to support the claim
