Today, almost all organisations recognise the need to provide outstanding services to consumers. Globally, companies are embracing mass customisation as a tool for providing unique value to their customers in an efficient manner. Worldwide, many companies have built sustained and lasting relationships with their customers through mass customisation. There is growing evidence that mass customisation strategy is transforming into a mass personalisation strategy and as a result it is redefining marketing and business strategies. However, to be successful, companies in the business of mass customisation must also offer a highly personalised experience to the customers at an affordable and competitive price. In India, congregating personalisation with mass customisation is a novel approach, and can be used for building relationships. In this paper, we have analysed a new business model which makes mass personalisation realisable using IT tools as an enabler, by means of a case study approach.

Information communication technology (ICT) has huge business potential in India. It is also one of the most important markets to be explored for internet business models because of its large customer base. But for the ICT and internet business to thrive in India, government contribution is imperative. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore the government initiatives for the promotion of ICT in India. This paper highlights the Indian governments significant contribution in promoting ICT. The government initiatives have been systematically analysed and the gaps have been identified. Based on the comparison and gaps identified, further initiatives for promoting digital business model in India have been identified and stated. This paper adds value because it lists the Indian government initiatives exhaustively, in promoting digital business models as a vehicle for developing Indian economy.

The increasing internet penetration has made e-business a huge potential in developing countries like India. In todays cluttered online world, it is becoming difficult for customers to search for the sites of their choice. Search engines can be one of the solutions, but it also has a limitation with respect to evaluating the type of information that the customer actually requires. The aggregator e-business model in its numerous variations has emerged as a solution to help individuals and businesses effectively use the massive volumes of information on the internet. In this paper, we have considered the comparison shopping model, one of the information aggregation e-business models, and analysed the status and challenges for these models in India. Using the TolMol.com case study, we have tried to establish that the comparison shopping model of e-business can be successfully implemented in the Indian scenario, with the necessary customisation to suit the Indian business context.

Wireless Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) is fast becoming an option in the telecommunication area and consequently there is a renewed interest in developing broadband integrated service of digital network technologies namely ATM. In order to address ATM planning it is important to address both the physical network design as well as the logical network design. In this paper a cost effective ATM physical network design using Passive Optical Network has been suggested. On top of the physical network design, a logical network design with optimised bandwidth allocation using VP based approach has been suggested. This paper explores non-traditional optimisation technique specifically Genetic Algorithm (GA) to solve the physical as well as logical network design. The results thus obtained proves that GA based approach provides very good solution to ATM network planning problem.

The features of popular social networking sites SNSs have been evolving rapidly. In this regard, there arise interesting questions that warrant investigations like, does user perception of SNSs get affected due to feature evolution of the SNSs? What features of the SNSs really matter to the users? Are features of SNSs important reasons for usage of these sites? In order to investigate these questions, the authors conducted an analytical study of SNSs usage in India. The study was undertaken with three stage qualitative process of detailed literature review, expert opinion elicitation followed by in-depth focus group discussions with 12 select panel of SNSs users. The study corroborates existing literature on SNS usage context in terms of usage purpose, usage impact due to user profile and age-group, user presence on different SNS platforms, and also shows some new findings on user perceptions on feature evolutions.

Augmented reality (AR) is an emergent technology which is fast gaining acceptance in varied business sectors and also in the socio-political environment. The purpose of this paper is to present augmented reality as an option to new-age entrepreneurs by providing a holistic overview on practical usages of augmented reality in global and Indian contexts. The paper uses an analytical approach to study various applications of AR from Indian and international business scenario based on secondary data. The paper also includes a case study of innovative AR application in Indian socio-political scenario. The paper identifies the potential opportunities of using augmented reality in business and socio political environment.

With the tremendous growth of information communication technology in India, the government has introduced several information technology-based reforms in processes and at times in policies. These reforms are driven mostly with a view to allow the governmental services to be widely realised in a populous country like India. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the categorisation of digitisation of governmental services in India, to explain one service from each category and provide a critical analysis of the same. The paper systematically studies the growth of ICT and e-governance initiatives in India subsequently it explains one exemplar initiative from each category and offers a primary critique on the same. The paper reports that though the vision of e-governance initiatives offered by the Indian Government is appreciable but the implementation has several challenges, the same are stated in the critique. The paper adds original value as it studies in detail the growth of ICT and e-governance initiatives in India and offers a primary critique on the same.

Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) is widely used in telecommunications systems to send data, video and voice at a very high speed. In ATM network the Quality of Service (QoS) is an important consideration. This paper deals with dynamic routing algorithm for homogeneous ATM networks. In this work Genetic Algorithm(GA) is used to find out best possible Virtual Path(VP) keeping in mind the QoS. We propose a new initialization technique for solving the dynamic routing problem with GA which improves the efficiency of GA and optimizes the bandwidth. The optimized bandwidth could mean that some attractive business applications such as high speed LAN interconnection, teleconferencing, would become feasible or more available to business users. We have also performed a comparative study of the selection mechanisms and listed the best selection mechanism.
