Artificially triggered lightning experiments to an EHV transmission line

Kohichi Nakamura; K. Horii; Yukio Kito; A. Wada; G. Ikeda; Shinichi Sumi; Masayuki Yoda; Susumu Aiba; Hitoshi Sakurano; K. Wakamatsu

In a triggered-lightning experiment carried out on a mountain in Japan, thirteen strikes were obtained for the winter seasons of 1986 and 1987. The lightning occurred on the conductor and the tower of a 275 kV test transmission line, on the ground, etc. The authors outline the triggering method and the experimental results obtained from electrical and optical observations. Comparatively intense lightning with a current greater than 50 kA or a charge greater than 200 C was obtained. >

Acoustic Domain for Characteristics Control of Amorphous Semiconductor

Yoshiaki Tokunaga; Hiratoshi Katsuda; Susumu Aiba; Masakazu Isniguro

Acoustic domain is used to control the characteristics of amorphous semiconductor. Strong energy fluxes in an acoustic domain are injected into melt-quenched amorphous As2S3; the characteristics change is studied by the Brillouin scattering technique and X-ray diffraction. It is found that as frequency goes higher, a larger characteristics change is observed. 200×104 domain injections cause a similar effect to that due to furnace annealing at 180°C for 1 hour.

Frequency Spectrum of CdS Acoustic Domains for Acoustic Domain Injection Technique

Yoshiaki Tokunaga; Toshiaki Shimotani; Susumu Aiba; Masakazu Ishiguro

The purpose of this paper is to study the frequency spectrum of the CdS acoustic domain generator to measure the physical parameters of II-VI or III-V compound semiconductors. It is concluded that the low frequency fluxes below 1 GHz are caused by the piezoelectric shock in the high resistivity region due to insufficient ohmic contact near the cathode electrode.
