A proposal for a new algorithm of reference interval-free continuous DP for real-time speech or text retrieval

This paper proposes a new frame-synchronous algorithm for spotting similar intervals by comparing arbitrary intervals in a reference pattern sequence with arbitrary intervals in an input pattern sequence. The algorithm is called Reference Interval-Free Continuous DP (RIFCDP) and the experimental results show that RIFCDP is successful in detecting the similar intervals between a reference pattern and an input. We have applied this algorithm to speech retrieval from a speech database and showed the possibility of real-time speech/text retrieval. The proposed algorithm can offer a wide range of applications such as digesting of continuous speech by checking the duplication of input data (same word utterance), and location identification of a mobile robot.

A response model for a CG character based on timing of interactions in a multimodal human interface

Kenji Sakamoto; Haruo Hinode; Keiko Watanuki; Susumu Seki; Jiro Kiyama; Fumio Togawa

In this paper, we propose a response model for a multimodal human interface, by inserting listener responses particular times by detecting keywords from the user’s utterances and controlling the face direction of a humanlike Computer Graphics (CG) character according to the direction of the user’s attention which is determined by tracing user’s face. Then we integrated the response model into a prototype system, and evaluated its efficiency.

Multimodal agent interface based on dynamical dialogue model: MAICO: multimodal agent interface for communication

Toshiro Mukai; Susumu Seki; Masayuki Nakazawa; Keiko Watanuki; Hideo Miyoshi

In this paper, we describe a multimodal interface prototype system based on Dynamical Dialogue Model. This system not only integrates information of speech and gestures, but also controls the response timing in order to realize a smooth interaction between user and computer. Our approach consists of human-human dialogue analysis, and computational modeling of dialogue.

Man-machine project management system for new products development

Susumu Tsuhara; Susumu Seki; Koji Nakamura; Toshiro Namiki

Man-machine project management system for new products development has been developed. It possesses the following three functions. (1) Planning the optimum inspection project, (2) Project scheduling with limited resources and (3) Man-machine project prediction and evaluation. In this paper, the necessity of these functions is described. Authors will also refer to the realization methods.
