High-performance liquid chromatography of metal chelates: Environmental and industrial trace metal control

A. R. Timerbaev; O. M. Petrukhin; I.P. Alimarin; T. A. Bol'shova

The methodological aspects of the use of HPLC in determination of metals in the form of their chelates are discussed. Rational schemes for the analysis of complex environmental and industrial samples are presented, including choice of chelating reagent, chelate preparation, metal concentration, separation method and detection method. Examples of the application of HPLC of metal chelates to environmental, production and quality control are presented.

Liquid chromatography of palladium and non-ferrous metal chelates with 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol

Yu. S. Nikitin; N.B. Morozova; S.N. Lanin; T. A. Bol'shova; V. M. Ivanov; E. M. Basova

1-(2-Pyridylazo)-2-naphthol has been used for extraction concentration of palladium, copper, cobalt and nickel from aqueous solutions and subsequent separation of the chelates obtained, by means of high-pressure liquid chromatography. A technique for determining microamounts of palladium in aqueous solutions in the presence of 100-fold ratio of copper and 80-fold ratio of cobalt has been developed.

Separation of some platinum metal 8-hydroxyquinolinates by normal phase high-performance liquid chromatography.

Alimarinod Ip; E. M. Basova; Malykhin Ay; T. A. Bol'shova

The method of normal phase high-performance liquid chromatography has been applied to the separation and determination of Pd(II), Pt(II), Rh(III), Ir(IV), Ru(III) and Os(IV) as chelates with 8-hydroxyquinoline on a 62 x 2 mm column packed with Silasorb 600 5 mu silica gel by elution with methylene chloride-isopropyl alcohol mixture (97:3 v/v). The detection limits (ng per 5 mul), were Pd 0.3, Pt 1.0, Rh 1.0, Ir 5.0, Ru 1.5, Os 25. The separation time was 12 min at a flow-rate of 0.1 ml/min.
