A Case of Replantation of the Incomplete Thigh Amputation

Digital or arm replantations have become possible in recent years with the development of microsurgery. However replantation of the thigh amputation is difficult because of the complications. We succeeded in the replantation of the incomplete thigh amputation without any complications.A 64-year-old female was injured her right thigh by a grasscutter, admitted to a neighbor hospital, and she was introduced to our hospital after three hours post-injury.The thigh was amputated except for medial skin, sartorius muscle, and vastus medialis muscle. Debridement and replantation were performed.She had hypesthesia of the lateral portion of the leg, and no active motion of the ankle joint, but she could move the knee joint in range of motion of 0 to 120 degrees. She was discharged with a short-leg brace and one crutch at 11 weeks post-operation.
