Abstract This paper deals with the synthesis and the X-ray determination of the structure of a new aluminophosphate with the formula (N2C2H10)4(NH4)AlP4O16. This acentric phase crystallizes in the tetragonal space group I-4 (no. 82) with parameters a = 9.1545(5)A, c = 17.1810(8)A, V = 1439.9(2)A3, and Z = 2. The network of (N2C2H10)4(NH4)AlP4O16 consists of pentameric [AlP4O16 clusters with a central AlO4 tetrahedron sharing its four corners with four PO4 tetrahedra. These isolated units are linked by strong hydrogen bonds between the oxygen atoms of the PO4 groups and the hydrogen of the ammonium cations and the diprotonated ethylenediamine.

Abstract MIL-32 formulated: Al3(PO4)4, N4C6H21, H2O, is a new layered aluminophosphate obtained by hydrothermal synthesis using tris(2-aminoethyl)amine as a template. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2 with a=19.1418(5), b=8.5274(2), c=14.5454(1) A, β=104.543(2)° and Z=4. Its structure consists of chiral inorganic layers interleaved by the non-chiral triprotonated amine. The inorganic layer is built up from two similar structural units with five polyhedra, connected together by linking phosphate groups. The two structural units contain two identical PO4 tetrahedra and three AlO4 tetrahedra. Each aluminium tetrahedron shares all its vertices with the PO4 groups: two corners with the two PO4 tetrahedra of the structural unit and the two other ones with the PO4 groups linking the structural units to each other. The connection of the two units via phosphate groups delimits 6-ring channels along the a axis.

Abstract MIL-27 is a new monoclinic fluorinated aluminium phosphate formulated Al6(PO4)6F3·[H2O]2·N4C6H21, it has been hydrothermally synthesized (180 °C, 29 days, autogenous pressure), in the presence of the tris-2(aminoethyl)amine molecule as a structure directing agent. MIL-27 crystallises in the monoclinic space group C2/c with: a = 14.2604(1) A, b = 11.5999(2) A, c = 18.3249(3) A, β = 90.324 °, V = 3031.24 (8) A3 and Z = 8. It exhibits an open-framework structure, which consists of the connection by corner sharing of PO4 tetrahedra with AlO4 tetrahedra, AlO4F trigonal bipyramids and AlO4F2 octahedra. The connection of these building units generates 8-rings crossing-channels running along [100] and [001] axis, in which the triprotonated amine and the water molecules are located.
