Multiparameter Methods for Structural Analysis of Steel Articles Using the Magnetic Properties of Substances

V. N. Kostin; A. A. Osintsev; A. N. Stashkov; T. P. Tsar'kova

The potentialities of multiparameter testing for the determination of the physical and mechanical properties of steel articles based on measurements of the magnetic characteristics of the substance have been shown. The most likely testing parameters have been determined. Information about a small portable MMT-2 magnetic multitester, which allows rapid measurements of the relative magnitudes of the magnetic properties of a substance to be taken, is presented.

Measurements of Relative Magnetic Parameters of Materials in Tested Components Incorporated in Closed Circuits

V. N. Kostin; T. P. Tsar'kova; E. Yu. Sazhina

The paper is dedicated to the feasibility of measurements of magnetic parameters of tested components incorporated in closed circuits with ferromagnetic transducers in the capacity of magnetic flux meters and the technique based on the conversion of the measured flux to a magnetic field intensity in an opening of a certain configuration made in the magnetic conductor of an applied electromagnet.

Magnetic Properties of Steels after Quenching and Tempering. III. High-Chromium Steels.

G. V. Bida; A. P. Nichipuruk; T. P. Tsar'kova

The paper describes effects of quenching and tempering processes on the magnetic properties, electric resistivity, and hardness of steels with the chromium content higher than 10%. These parameters have been measured as functions of the heating temperature for quenching and tempering of high-chromium steels with different carbon contents.

Effect of Deviation from Coaxiality between the Directions of Magnetization and Mechanical Strain on the Results of Magnetic Testing of Elastic Strain in Steels

E. S. Gorkunov; T. P. Tsar'kova; S. V. Smirnov; D. I. Vichuzhanin; I. G. Emel'yanov; V. Yu. Kuznetsov

The magnetoelastic effect in steels that are in the states of coercive force and residual magnetization in the saturation hysteresis loop is studied. The regularities of changes in the residual magnetization and coercive force under uniaxial tensioning and compression of specimens of 30KhGSA steel magnetized along the direction of strain application are established. It is shown that a variation in the direction of magnetization and complication of the strain pattern result in considerable deviations in the character of changes in the magnetic forces determined by a ferroprobe-type coercive force meter for elastically strained plates from St3 and R6M5 steels and for an St3 beam.

Magnetic Properties of Steels after Quenching and Tempering. I. General. Carbon Steels

G. V. Bida; A. P. Nichipuruk; T. P. Tsar'kova

The publication is composed of three parts. The first describes characteristics that are used in nondestructive tests of ferromagnetic components and assemblies, and the classification of these characteristics with structure- and phase-sensitive ones. Physical processes during quenching and tempering of carbon and low-alloyed steels are discussed, alongside their effect on the coercive force, saturation magnetization, electric resistivity, and hardness of the 30Kh3MFA, 40KhFA, and ShKh15 steels. These parameters are given as functions of the heating temperature in the processes of quenching and tempering of these steels.

Magnetic Properties of Steels after Quenching and Tempering. II. Low-Alloyed Steels

G. V. Bida; A. P. Nichipuruk; T. P. Tsar'kova

The paper reports on the coercive force, saturation magnetization, relaxation magnetization and magnetic susceptibility, electric resistivity, and hardness of low-alloyed steels from a wide range as functions of the heating temperature for quenching and tempering.
