Abstract Two subclasses S ( α , t ) and T ( α , t ) are introduced concerning with Sakaguchi functions in the open unit disk U . Further, by using the coefficient inequalities for the classes S ( α , t ) and T ( α , t ) , two subclasses S 0 ( α , t ) and T 0 ( α , t ) are defined. The object of the present paper is to discuss some properties of functions belonging to the classes S 0 ( α , t ) and T 0 ( α , t ) .

We introduce the subclass Tj(n,m, a) of analytic functions with negative coefficients by the operator Dn. Coefficient inequalities and distortion theorems of functions in Tj(n,m,a) are determind. Further, distortion theorems for fractional calculus of functions in Tj(n,m,a) are obtained.

Let a#x1D4AE;*(p,α) be the class of functions f(z) which are analytic and p-valently starlike of order α in the open unit disk E. The object of the present paper is to derive an interesting condition for f(z) to be in the class a#x1D4AE;*(p,α).

Integral means inequalities with coefficients inequalities of certain analytic functions for the fractional derivatives and the fractional integral are determined by means of the subordination theorem. Relevant connections with known integral means with coefficients inequalities of analytic functions are also pointed out.

It is a fairly common practice for scientific journals and periodicals to publish special issues as well as conference proceedings. Quite frequently, these issues are devoted to specific topics (and/or are dedicated to commemorate the celebrated works of renowned researchers). Indeed, under the supervision and guidance of Professor H.M. Srivastava himself, we are happy and honoured to be the Guest Editors of this Special Issue of the Elsevier journal: Applied Mathematics and Computation, which contains the duly refereed contributions including (especially) most (if not all) of the papers presented at the International Symposium on Analytic Function Theory, Fractional Calculus and Their Applications in Honour of Professor H.M. Srivastava on his Sixty-Fifth Birth Anniversary (University of Victoria, Canada; August 22–27, 2005). Web Site: http://www.pims.math.ca/science/2005/05hms/. A few of the contributions included in the present Special Issue may be viewed as being complementary to (and as providing further advances on) some of those works that appeared in the following earlier volumes dealing with current developments on essentially the same general topics in Mathematical Analysis and Applied Mathematics:

The object of the present paper is to show the extreme points of the class A(n,Bk) consisting of analytic functions with negative coefficients and the support points of the subclass A *(n,Bk) of A(n,Bk).
