Samples cited in the papers of Bjornberg (1963, 1965) and some taken recently off Santos, Rio de Janeiro and Cabo Frio (Brazil) were restudied. The distribution of the several species of the genus Paracalanus (carassirostris, nanus, quasimodo, parvus s. str., indicus, aculeatus), of the genus Clausocalanus (furcatus, mastigophorus, pergens, ingens, paululus, parapergens and arcuicornis) were surveyed in Brazilian waters. Two new species Paracalanus campaneri and Delius sewelli were described. Two Ctenocalanus were found in Brazilian waters not corresponding to the description of Ctenocalanus citer. The distribution of these especies was compared off South America.

Three benthonic Harpacticoida (Crustacea) new to science were collected in the Sao Sebastiao Channel region (SE Coast of Brazil): Rhizotrix virginiae n.sp. (Rhizotrichidae), Galapalaophonte alvaroi n. sp. (Laophontidae) and Laophontisochra terueae n.sp. (Nannopodidae). Though similar to described species from the NW Atlantic benthos, the Caribbean region and the Patagonian continental slope, they differ in details, such as number of leg segments and/or setae, ornaments, etc. and are here described for the first time.

Aspects of the female genital segment with and without attached couplers and enclosed spermatophores are studied of Gaussia specimens collected in the SW Atlantic and SE Pacific. A new species found in the SW Atlantic, Gaussia asymmetrica, is proposed.

Novo genero e nova especie de Clausiidae (Crustacea, Copepoda) parasita de Dipolydora armata (Polychaeta, Spionidae) no Brasil: Descricao e ilustracao de novo genero e nova especie de um copepodo parasita (Clausiidae), Spionicola mystaceus, associado ao poliqueto Dipolydora armata (Spionidae). O novo copepodo tem um corpo alongado, antenula penta articulada , ramos biarticulados nos pereiopodos um e dois, dois espinhos representando o pereiopodo 3, pereiopodo 4 ausente, pereiopodo 5 muito desenvolvido e estruturas dos apendices bucais reduzidas. O hospedeiro e um perfurador de conchas de moluscos coletado ao largo da Ilha de Sao Sebastiao, Estado de Sao Paulo, Brasil.

The six naupliar stages of Cyclopina yutimaete Lotufo are described and compared to other cyclopoid nauplii. They seem more similar to freshwater cyclopoid nauplii than to marine species. The hirsute aspect of the last segment of the antennule is of diagnostic value for these nauplii.
