Mechanical and flow properties of morphology controlled PP/PA6 alloys by reactive processing

The morphology of MAH-PP/PA6 polymer alloys was controlled by the PP-PA6 graft copolymer existing at the interface and reactive processing conditions. Mechanical property changes depended on particle diameter changes in the extruder. The flow properties depended on the copolymer content and the particle deformation.

SR-SAXS STUDY OF THE DEFORMATION PROCESS OF POLYAMIDE ALLOYS

ABSTRACT The deformation process of toughened nylon/PPE/rubber blend, in which nylon was a matrix and PPE containing rubber was dispersed in the matrix, were investigated by synchrotron radiation small-angle X-ray scattering (SR-SAXS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The samples with 2mm in thickness were stretched at a speed of 2mm/min and the time-resolved scattering profiles were measured by imaging plate (IP) and position sensitive proportional counter (PSPC). The voids began to form just before the yield point, showing initially almost isotropic patterns. As elongation proceeded, the voids were deformed parallel to the tensile direction. TEM observation showed that voids were formed around the rubber particles in the PPE domain.
