Reverse Temperature Dependence of Flow Stress in Precipitation Hardened Cu-Ni-Al Single Crystals

ABSTRACT The characteristics in deformation and the deformation mechanism of precipitation hardening type Cu-Ni-Al alloys were studied on single crystal specimens. In the underaged condition dislocations cut ordered Ni 3 Al particles, while in the overaged condition they by-pass particles. The most important point is that in the underaged condition the strong reverse temperature dependence is obtained at the testing temperature between 77 K and 673 K.
