A microscopic approach to a foundation of the Interacting Boson Model by using angular momentum projection

Naotaka Yoshinaga; Akito Arima; Takaharu Otsuka

Abstract A microscopic approach related to a foundation of the Interacting Boson Model was carried out by taking a model hamiltonian and using angular momentum projection. It is shown in this particular model that the inclusion of the hexadecapole degree of freedom in addition to the monopole and quadrupole degrees of freedom is important and sufficient to reproduce physical quantities.

Description of high-spin states in the interacting boson model

N. Yoshida; Akito Arima; Takaharu Otsuka

Abstract The proton-neutron interacting boson model is extended so that states with two fermions are included. This model is applied to the description of high-spin states of the Ba and Ce isotopes. The backbending phenomenon is well explained.

M1 transitions between low-lying levels in 168Er and F-spin purity☆

H. Harter; P. von Brentano; A. Gelberg; Takaharu Otsuka

Abstract Magnetic transitions in the gamma band of the nucleus 168Er have been calculated with the proton-neutron interacting boson model. The F-spin purity is found to be better than 96%.

Pre-equilibrium description of fast light particle emission in heavy-ion reactions

Takaharu Otsuka; Kichinosuke Harada

Abstract Fast light particle emissions in heavy-ion reactions are described as a pre-equilibrium process. Reactions between a “light” heavy-ion projectile and a heavy target are considered in the energy region of the incident energy / the projectile mass ⪅ 10 MeV. Calculations are carried out by an extended exciton model in which the finiteness of the time needed for the fusion process is included. The spectrum shapes of proton, alpha, deuteron and triton emissions are well explained for an example case, 14 N + 181 Ta at 115 MeV .
