A simple database language for personal computers

Tan Watanabe; Tsuneharu Ohsawa; Takaji Suzuki

A simple database language for personal computers has been implemented by selecting a subset of the ANS MUMPS language and enhancing it so as to meet the requirements of microcomputer end-users who are unfamiliar with computers. This database language is named Micro MUMPS. Its database is based on a modified prefix B-tree having parameters for adjusting its data organization according to the requirements of space and time efficiency. Experience with Micro MUMPS has demonstrated a remarkable reduction in programming time.

A 10T superconducting NbTi/Cu window frame dipole magnet, cooled in a horizontal pressurized helium II bath, was constructed and successfully tested. The dipole magnet coil and clamping structure, trained three times at 4.2K, was cooled down to 1.8K. In the first excitation at this temperature, the central dipole field induction reached to 9.3T, corresponding a maximum field in the coil of 10.4T. This is a record maximum field in this kind of dipole magnets.

A New Scanning Method for Head CT

Hideki Kohno; Shinji Yamamoto; Takaji Suzuki

A new scanning method for obtaining cross sectional images of three-dimensional objects is described in this paper. The scanner is similar to socalled fan beam CT using multiple x-ray detectors. In the scanning system described here, the x-ray sensitivity errors of the detectors do not affect the reconstructed images, and scanning time less than 30 seconds can be easily achieved.
