5.1: Fluorescent RGB OLEDs with High Performance

We developed highly efficient fluorescent dopants for full-color OLEDs. For blue, green and red OLEDs, current efficiencies of 8.7cd/A, 20.5 cd/A and 11.4 cd/A at 10mA/cm2 were achieved, respectively. Lifetime of the blue device was estimated to be 23,000hours at an initial luminance of 1,000 cd/m2. Moreover, long lifetime of 100,000 hours was estimated in the green and red devices. By the use of these dopants, we expect that a full-color OLED display with the lifetime of 18,000 hours at a white luminance of 300 cd/m2 can be achieved.

47.5L: Late-News Paper: Highly Efficient White OLEDs Using RGB Fluorescent Materials

A three-component white OLED device using fluorescent materials was developed for full-color displays. Very high power-efficiency of 17 lm/W@10mA/cm2 and long lifetime over 30,000hr@1,000cd/m2 were achieved by using new carrier transport materials with high mobility. Power consumption and half lifetime of a 2.2″ QVGA full-color display were estimated by simulation to be about 200mW(200cd/m2,100%ON) by combining the device with top-emission structure. This value is comparable to the state of the art of LCDs.
