An optimal treatment modality for patients with primary gastrointestinal lymphoma has not yet been established. This study aimed to elucidate the clinicopathologic features of this disease and the influence of therapeutic modalities on the prognosis in Japanese patients

Few previous articles have analyzed the relation between infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and primary gastric lymphoma in a large number of patients.

Background. Few articles have analyzed the prognostic data from a large series of primary gastric lymphoma classified according to the concept of mucosa‐associated lymphoid tissue (MALT).

Background. Peutz‐Jeghers (P‐J) syndrome has been found to be associated with an increased risk of malignant neoplasia.

The goals of the current study were to elucidate the long‐term outcome of Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy for gastric mucosa‐associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma and to clarify the therapeutic efficacy of stomach‐conserving treatments for patients not responding to eradication therapy.

It remains unclear whether the presence of mucosa‐associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma has prognostic implications for patients with primary small intestine lymphoma.

Background. Recent studies have noted that small flat carcinomas do exist in the human colon, but their clinicopathologic features have not been fully delineated.

The differentiated type of minute gastric carcinoma (MGC), measuring less than 5 mm in greatest dimension, has been considered to represent the incipient phase of gastric carcinoma. To determine the clinicopathologic features of MGCs, the authors examined tissues from MGCs with a view to clarifying their histopathologic diversity. The immunohistochemistry of these tissues was determined using monoclonal antibody against p53 and Ki‐67, and their mucin‐histochemical types were determined with reference to the presence of intestinal metaplasia (IM) within their surrounding mucosa.
