This 2007 Harvard School of Public Health/Robert Wood Johnson Foundation survey of 4,334 randomly selected U.S. adults compared perceptions of the quality of physician care among fourteen racial and ethnic groups with those of whites. On each measure examined, at least five and as many as eleven subgroups perceived their care to be significantly worse than care for whites. In many instances, subgroups were at least fifteen percentage points more negative than whites. This was true for Central/South Americans, Chinese Americans, and Korean Americans on five of seven measures. Many of the differences remained after socioeconomic characteristics and language skills were controlled for.

Voters and Health Reform in the 2008 Presidential Election

Robert J. Blendon; Drew E. Altman; John M. Benson; Mollyann Brodie; Tami Buhr; Claudia Deane; Sasha Buscho

Voters view health care as an important issue in the 2008 U.S. presidential election. Most voters favor major changes in our health care system. Registered voters who planned to vote for Senator Obama placed higher priority on increasing coverage for the uninsured, and Senator McCains supporters gave higher priority to health care reforms that would not raise taxes.

Triple photoionization of Xe3+, Xe4+ and Xe5+ ions has been studied in the energy range 670-750 eV, including the 3d ionization threshold. The photon-ion merged-beam technique was used at a synchrotron light source to measure the absolute photoionization cross sections. These cross sections exhibit a progressively larger number of sharp resonances as the ion charge state is increased. This clearly visualizes the re-ordering of the

Single ionization of noble-gas atoms by linearly polarized synchrotron radiation has been studied by employing angle- and energy-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy. The measurements were carried out in the plane defined by the momentum and polarization vectors of the photon. Parameters describing the left-right asymmetry (LRA; relative to the photon propagation direction) of the photoelectron angular distribution were determined experimentally for the
