Up to now, outlier detection and reliability theory are generally based on the regular Gauss-Markov models, in which the covariance matrix of observations is positively definite. For the adjustment models with singular covariance matrix, the statistics for outlier detection are derived by the authors. The corresponding reliability theory is developed. And the application of the theory is demonstrated with a practical example.

The solution properties of semiparametric model are analyzed, especially that penalized least squares for semiparametric model will be invalid when the matrixBTPB is ill-posed or singular. According to the principle of ridge estimate for linear parametric model, generalized penalized least squares for semiparametric model are put forward, and some formulae and statistical properties of estimates are derived. Finally according to simulation examples some helpful conclusions are drawn.

Some theory problems affecting parameter estimation are discussed in this paper. Influence and transformation between errors of stochastic and functional models is pointed out as well. For choosing the best adjustment model, a formula, which is different from the literatures existing methods, for estimating and identifying the model error, is proposed. On the basis of the proposed formula, an effective approach of selecting the best model of adjustment system is given.

This paper studies the estimation of variance and covariance components for GPS baseline network by MINQUE method. The fundamental rule for selecting variance-covariance model has been presented, and the alternative algorithm which simultaneouly estimates fixed variance components and scalled variance components of the distance, azimuth and geodetic height difference for a GPS baseline vector has been developed.
