Cardiotonic activities of four new compounds derived from digitoxigenin and uzarigenin, and their structure-activity relationship

Tatsuro Shigei; S. Mineshita

Cardiotonic action of 3-deoxydigitoxigenin

Keisuke Takeda; Tatsuro Shigei; Shoichi Imai

Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences | 1964

A new finding about the structure-activity relationship of cardiotonic steroids: Lack of cardiotonic action in 15α-hydroxydigitoxigenin

Tatsuro Shigei; Makoto Katori; Hiroshi Murase; Shoichi Imai

Contracture of slow muscle fibre induced by cardiac active steroids.

Tatsuro Shigei; Shoichi Imai; Hiroshi Murase

SummaryThe mechanism of the contracture induced by cardiac active steroids in frog skeletal muscles containing slow fibres was investigated. The fact that the contracture is of nervous origin was confirmed. Some additional findings related to the release of ACh were reported and discussed.24 steroidal compounds were tested for their contracture-inducing activity. A close correlation was found between the structural requirements for the contracture-inducing and the cardiotonic activites of these compounds.

Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences | 1971

Relationship between the potentiation of potassium-induced contracture of cardiac muscle by four cardenolides and their inhibitory effects on the sodium potassium activated adenosine triphosphatase of brain

Tatsuro Shigei; Keisuke Takeda; Y. Tashima; M. Nakao

Depletion of Kininogen I by Stem Bromelain and Its Significance Prevention of Adrenalin-Induced Pulmonary Edema in Rats

Makoto Katori; Satoru Mineshita; Tatsuro Shigei

It was found in this laboratory that an intravenous injection of stem bromelain (BRM) prevented the adrenaline-induced pulmonary edema in rats, while an injection of papain (PAP) did not, in spite of the fact that both enzymes are thiol-proteases from the plant origin (Shigei et al., 1967). In addition, the preventive effect of BRM was due to the proteolytic activity of the enzyme, because both the caseinolytic and the edema-preventing activities were abolished after incubation of the enzyme with a SH inhibitor, N-ethyl-maleimide (Enomoto et al., 1968).

Insusceptibility to the action of cardiotonic steroids of the ‘slow muscle fibre system’ of the toad

S. Mineshita; Tatsuro Shigei; Shoichi Imai

Japanese Journal of Pharmacology | 1965

A STUDY ON THE STRUCTURE-ACTIVITY RELATIONSHIP OF THE CARDIOTONIC STEROIDS

Shoichi Imai; Hiroshi Murase; Makoto Katori; Masahiro Okada; Tatsuro Shigei
