Macrocycles containing tin. Synthesis and structure of 1,10-diphenyl-1,10-distannabicyclo[8.8.8]hexacosane

Abstract : Synthetic methods used for the preparation and purification of the title compound, a representative member of a new class of compounds, are reported. The macrobicycle employs tin atoms as bridgeheads in a manner analogous to the nitrogen atoms of a cryptand. The molecular and crystal structure of the macrobicycle were determined by x-ray crystallography, and the positional and thermal parameters and bond distances are reported. (Author)

The structures of two new germacra-cis-1(10),cis-4-dien-trans-6α, 12-olides, longicornin A from Melampodium longicorne and melrosin A from M. rosei, have been determined by single crystal X-ray analysis; configurational revisions of the structurally related melcanthins A—G are suggested.

Structure of an α-(methyldiphenylsilyl)-γ-lactone

In the title compound, 3-methyl-3-(methyldiphenylsilyl)-3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-1-benzofuran-2(3H)-one, the diphenylmethylsilyl group is cis to the cyclohexane ring, which is cis-fused to the lactone ring. The Si-C(lactone) bond length is 1.922 (2) A, the Si-C(methyl) bond length is 1.866 (3) A and the C(methyl)-Si-C-C(methyl) torsion angle is 152.8 (2) o
