Dental x-ray spectrometry with an Si(Li) semiconductor

Spectra from a dental x-ray apparatus with varying tube potentials and various added filters were measured with the use of an Si(Li) semiconductor. The mean energies of the spectra were calculated to estimate radiation qualities under various conditions. A phantom lip made of Arcylite was used to compare the attenuated quantities of radiation incident on the lip, according to the radiation quality, resulting from various tube potentials and added filtration.

Differential Excitation Functions for Alpha-Particle and Proton Groups from the Deuteron Induced Reactions on F19

The reactions F¹⁹(d,p)F²⁰ and F⁹ (d, alpha )O¹⁷, leading to the ground state of F²⁰ and the ground and first excited states of O¹⁷, are studied at deuteron energies of 1.2 to 3.2 Mev. The differential excitation functions for the ground-state protons show, at various scattering angles, broad resonances at deuteron energies around 1.7 and 2.1 Mev. The alpha-particle differential excitation functions also have strong resonance- like structures. (T.F.H.)
