上水汚泥の法面緑化基盤材としての有効活用を検討した. 既に基礎的実験については, 報告済みであり本報告は実用化に向けて実験装置を大型化し, 特に降雨による法面浸食の影響, 植物の成育のための保水性, 上水汚泥の肥効性を検討した. 結果から, 改質した上水汚泥を混合することにより, 植生成育条件である土壌の硬度, 保水性, 肥効性が改善されることがわかった. また, 連続降雨による法面の浸食や流出土砂量の比較からは, 耐久性の増加が見受けられ, 肥効性の改良効果を利用して植裁を施せば, さらに有効に活用できることが認められた. これらの実験結果から, 上水汚泥の法面緑化基盤材としての有効性を示した.

将来, 取水水質の悪化により, 大量の汚泥が発生すると予想される. この上水汚泥を廃棄物としてではなく, 再生資源とするには, 所要の措置が必要である. その一方法として, 汚泥を電解法により処理し, 性状の改変を行った. 電解作用を受けた汚泥物質は, 基礎的実験から, 種々特徴ある性質に変化する事が判明した. この一つの特徴である団粒化能力を活かし, 電解処理汚泥の土壤への還元, ならびにその活用を検討した. 結果から, 汚泥混合土壤は植物の育成基盤やのり面表層土への建設資材として有効であると結論した. これより, 上水汚泥は資源として十分に再生利用出来ることを見い出した.

A HORIZONTAL PERMEABILITY TEST FOR A COHESIVE SOIL STRATUM

A new permeability test is proposed which is conducted on an undisturbed sample encased in a thin-wall sampler. Two rows of small holes are drilled diametrically opposite on the side of a thin-wall tube. Water under constant pressure is supplied through the holes and fed into the soil sample to maintain a steady seepage flow in it. The seepage thus obtained makes it possible to compute the coefficient of permeability in the horizontal direction of the whole sample and to evaluate realistic mass permeability for a stratum of a soft cohesive soil with substantial thickness.
