A polarization-controlled free-space photonic switch based on a PI-LOSS switch

Tetsuya Nishi; Tsuyoshi Yamamoto; Satoshi Kuroyanagi

We propose a polarization-controlled free-space photonic switch based on a PI-LOSS switch that has similar insertion loss and lower crosstalk compared to the conventional crossbar switch. We describe a multistage switching network with cross-connected PI-LOSS switch modules that is easier to control and smaller than other strictly nonblocking switch structures.<<ETX>>
