AbstractCase Report:Rhinocerebral mucormycosis is a rare invasive fungalninfection, with potentially fulminate course. A case ofnrhinocerebral mucormycosis, which was evaluated by magneticnresonance imaging (MRI) is presented, exhibiting inflammatorynchanges in the paranasal sinuses and orbit. Extension of theninfection intracranially in the suprasellar region andninfiltration of the naso- and oropharynx were remarkable andnwell demonstrated on MR images. MRI proved to be the electivenmethod for the early diagnosis and follow-up of the disease,nwhich in our patient was accompanied by clinicalnimprovement.ZusammenfassungFallbeschreibung:Rhinozerebrale Mukormykose ist eine seltene invasivenmykotische Infektion mit möglichem fulminanten Verlauf. DienAutoren stellen einen Fall von rhinozerebraler Mukormykose mitnentzündlichen Veränderungen in den Nasennebenhöhlen und dernOrbita vor, die mit Hilfe einer Magnetresonanztomographie (MRT)ndiagnostiziert wurden. Eine intrakranielle Ausdehnung nachnsuprasellär sowie eine Infiltration des Naso- und Oropharynxnließen sich in den MR-Aufnahmen deutlich abbilden. MRT war dienMethode der Wahl für die Frühdiagnose und Verlaufskontrolle dernKrankheit, die bei unserem Patienten gebessert werdennkonnte.
