Improvement of S/N ratio of thermoluminescent dosimeter reader for low dose measurements

Abstract When the ineffective part of a TLD heater was masked with some material, the S/N ratio of the reader was remarkably improved and was about 2 to 3 times that of the heater without the mask. The thermoluminiscent intensity measured wit the TLD reader with the heater mask was not less than without the heater mask.

Estimation of Fission Cross Section and Range of Fission Fragment by means of Track Registration

The range of fission fragment penetration in uranylacetate was measured by the method of track registration, and an estimate made of the effective fission cross section of natural uranium for neutrons from a Ra--Be source. (JFP)
