We propose a non-photorealistic rendering method for generating striped color images which are overlaid striped patterns in color photographs. Our method generates striped color images by an iterative process using inverse line convergence index filter (ILCIF). The effectiveness of our method is investigated experimentally. Variations in the striped color image generated from the Lena image are obtained by varying the ILCIF parameters, and striped color images are also generated from several other photographic images to assess their visual effects. As a result of the experiments, we reveal a change in the shape and space of striped patterns which is generated by varying the ILCIF parameters, and show that our proposed method generates striped patterns in the entire image.

Development of an industrial cluster that denotes a geographic concentration of interconnected businesses and associated institutions in a particular field is one of most important policies for many countries. One of the key issues for promotion of the policy is to use its proper assessment. At the present time, some assessment methods based on economic statistics or questionnaire investigations are proposed. However, the methods based on economic statistics can apply to only longterm assessment. On the other hand, the methods using questionnaire investigation include problems of consuming a lot of time and effort. In order to solve the problems, we develop a patent analysis method which uses geometric bias of patent applications, which is able to apply for middle/short-term assessment by using global Morans test and local Morans test that measures spatial auto-correlation. As a result, our method can detect the bias on patent applications.

Many GIS (Geographic Information System) users are willing to remove the shadow from aerial imagery. In order to remove the shadow form aerial imagery,it is necessary to extract the shadow area and convert the luminance value of the shadow area. However,it is difficult to extract the shadow area using only the luminance value of aerial imagery. Therefore, in the background that aerial imagery and airborne laser scanner data is acquired at the same time in recent years,we propose a shadow extraction method from aerial imagery using airborne laser scanner data.We prove the effectiveness of the proposed method through the experiments. Finally, we comment on the respects in which the proposed method is improved and on future prospects.
