THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF RATTLING NOISE OF AUTOMOTIVE GEARBOX

In this report, results of a simulation analysis and experimental studies of the rattling noise heard in many kinds of manual gearbox are discussed. From the simulation results, it was found possible to reduce the rattling noise by optimizing the torsional characteristics of the clutch plate. This result was verified by a laboratory experiment. Applying the result to an actual passenger car decreased the rattling noise to an acceptable level.
