Featured researches published by Ulfert Hornemann.

Journal of The Chemical Society, Chemical Communications | 1980

Role of D-[4-14C]erythrose and [3-14C]pyruvate in the biosynthesis of the meta-C–C6–N unit of the mitomycin antibiotics in Streptomyces verticillatus

Ulfert Hornemann; James H. Eggert; Daniel P. Honor

D-[4-14C]Erythrose but not [3-14C]pyruvate labels C-7 of the mitomycins significantly, while [7-14C]-3-dehydroquinic acid and D-[1,6-14C2]shikimic acid methyl ester are not incorporated, leading to the suggestion that 4-amino-3,4-dideoxy-D-arabinoheptulosonic acid 7-phosphate, or a close relative, may act as an intermediate in the formation of the meta-C–C6–N unit of these antibiotics.

Journal of the American Chemical Society | 1979

Formation of 1-ethylxanthyl-2,7-diaminomitosene and 1,10-diethylxanthyl-2,7-diaminodecarbamoylmitosene in aqueous solution upon reduction-reoxidation of mitomycin C in the presence of potassium ethylxanthate

Ulfert Hornemann; Paul J. Keller; John F. Kozlowski

Journal of the American Chemical Society | 1976

Studies on the mode of action of the mitomycin antibiotics. Reversible conversion of mitomycin C into sodium 7-aminomitosane-9a-sulfonate.

Ulfert Hornemann; Yau-Kwan Ho; Jesse K. Mackey; Suresh C. Srivastava

Journal of Organic Chemistry | 1983

Reactions of mitomycin C with potassium ethyl xanthate in neutral aqueous solution

Ulfert Hornemann; Kazuo Iguchi; Paul J. Keller; Huynh M. Vu; John F. Kozlowski; Harold Kohn

Journal of Chromatography A | 1978

High-pressure liquid chromatography of the antibiotics mitomycin A, B and C and of polar mitomycin C conversion products

Suresh C. Srivastava; Ulfert Hornemann

The Journal of Antibiotics | 1975

UTILIZATION OF THE INTACT CARBAMOYL GROUP OF L-[NH2CO-13C, 15N] CITRULLINE IN MITOMYCIN BIOSYNTHESIS BY STREPTOMYCES VERTICILLATUS

Ulfert Hornemann; James H. Eggert

Journal of Organic Chemistry | 1985

Stereochemical relationship between mitomycins A, B, and C

Ulfert Hornemann; Michael J. Heins

The Journal of Antibiotics | 1979

Studies on the biosynthesis of the antibiotic streptozotocin (streptozocin) by Streptomyces achromogenes var. streptozoticus. Feeding experiments with carbon-14 and tritium labelled precursors.

Saraswathi Singaram; Rebecca S. Lawrence; Ulfert Hornemann

Carbohydrate Research | 1973

Synthesis of 2-amino-2-deoxy-D-glucose-15N and of 2-amino-2-deoxy-L-glucose-2-14C

Ulfert Hornemann

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry | 1985

Lack of influence of the carbamoyl group on the stereochemistry of the acid-catalyzed opening of the aziridine ring of the mitomycins and of congeners.

Ulfert Hornemann; Paul J. Keller; Kazuyoshi Takeda
