Basic trends in development of drilling equipment for ore mining with block caving method

V. A. Eremenko; V. N. Karpov; V. V. Timonin; N. G. Barnov; I. O. Shakhtorin

The authors have determined the causes of drop in performance of induced block caving using fans of blastholes 105 mm in diameter and single blastholes 250 mm in diameter, as well as the sources of increased drilling cost and expansion of start-up time of production blocks in Abakan underground mine. Alternatives of improvement in drilling efficiency under current conditions are discussed.

Support Design for Mines Exposed to Rockburst Hazard

V. N. Louchnikov; V. A. Eremenko; M. P. Sandy; M. A. Kosyreva

One of the approaches to reducing aftereffects of rock bursts is the dynamic support capable to stand strong dynamic rock pressure events in the form of seismic vibration and failure of adjacent rock mass. The article describes the support design procedure in use in hard mineral mines exposed to rockburst hazard. Different types of rock bolting and surface support are discussed from the viewpoint of energy absorption and yielding.

Hands-on experience of safe and efficient ore mining in Siberia

A. A. Eremenko; V. A. Eremenko; A. N. Aleksandrov; V. N. Koltyshev

The authors report findings on geomechanical assessment of rock masses. The flow charts and parameters of geotechnology for ore extraction by blocks and sections under conditions of rockburst hazard are presented. It is stated that the use of the new mining and blasting technologies results in appreciable economic effect.

Formation of Higher Stress Zones and Clusters of Seismic Events in Deep Mining in Tashtagol

V. A. Eremenko; L. N. Gakhova; E. N. Semenyakin

Based on the numerical modeling and experimental stress-strain state assessment in rocks, the authors have determined the regularity patterns in the formation of highest stress zones and clusters of seismic events in the course of sequential to downward ore extraction with caving in the condition of high horizontal stresses.

Substantiation of extraction panel parameters in ecologically balanced coal mining cycle

M. V. Ryl’nikova; V. A. Eremenko; A. P. Eruslanov; S. A. Prokhvatilov

The article focuses on ecologically balanced and complete extraction of coal reserves, with minimized impact exerted on human environment by gas emissions. It is found that geometrical design of extraction panels should be based on modeling of oxygen distribution in mined-out stopes and then calibration of the model using in situ test data.

Geodynamic and Seismic Events under Rockburst-Hazardous Block Caving in Gornaya Shoria

A. A. Eremenko; I. V. Mashukov; V. A. Eremenko

The authors give an assessment of the effect exerted by blasting on the intensity of geodynamic and seismic events. The key regularities of distribution of shocks under blasting of rock blocks are found. The scope of the experimental research embraces determination of seismic velocities on the ground surface in mining area in Gornaya Shoria.

Utilization of elastic energy of rock mass as a source of renewable energy

M. V. Ryl’nikova; L. I. Manevitch; V. A. Eremenko; V. V. Smirnov

The authors investigate modes and parameters of mining operations with a view to create conditions for transmission of geotechnologically produced kinetic energy of rocks to electric generators. The features of application of energy-harvesting equipment in underground mining of hard minerals are discussed. The low-frequency energy trap designed to entrap elastic energy of rock mass oscillations operates in a wide range of amplitudes and frequencies of rock mass vibration, and is composed of three nonlinear oscillators having preset mass and elastic characteristics.

Control of Shattering Effect of Explosion in Mass Ore Caving

A. A. Eremenko; G. P. Ermak; V. A. Eremenko; I. V. Mashukov; S. V. Fefelov

The results of experimental investigations into mutual location of bundle contiguous charges and vertical concentrated charges in the nonuniformly stressed rock masses are presented. The schemes are considered for ore blasting in blocks into the caved rock and compensation chambers. The parameters are given for drilling and blasting operations.
