Low-lying energy levels in124Ba have been investigated from124Laβ-decay by using He-jet technique. Spin and parity assignments have been deduced from internal conversion electron measurements. Aβ-vibrational band based on a second 0+ state has been identified. Experimental level energies have been compared with IBFA-2 calculations.

Excited levels have been identified in the odd-odd158Tm nucleus produced in the150Sm (14N,6n) reaction. The observed level structure based on an isomeric state (T1/216±4 ns) is interpreted as a rotational aligned band.

Abstract High-spin states of 124Ba, 125Ba and 125Cs have been populated in the reactions 110Cd + 18O at 80MeV and 96Zr + 34S at 160 MeV and studied using nuclear spectroscopy techniques. Several bands have been established in 124Ba and previously known band structures in125Ba and 125Cs extended up to ( 43 2 − ) levels. Results concerning crossing frequencies and quasiparticle configurations are deduced from experimental routhians and aligned angular momenta. We propose that the two positive-parity bands in 124Ba are generated by h 11 2 proton and h 11 2 neutron alignments and the three negative-parity bands by the coupling of h 11 2 , g 7 2 neutrons and h 11 2 , g 7 2 or g 9 2 protons.

The high spin structure of the nucleus128Ce has been investigated via the94Mo (37Cl, p2n) reaction at 158 MeV. New bands have been found. Alignments of h11/2 protons and h11/2 neutrons have been observed.

Abstract The γ-rays produced in the reactions of 118 MeV 12 C on 120 Sn, 122 Sn, 124 Te and 39.5 MeV 4 He on 161 Dy are investigated by using a sum spectrometer, a single NaI(Tl) detector and Ge(Li):s. Different nuclei were selected by setting gates on known transitions in the Ge(Li) spectra. The second effective moment of inertia I (2) eff is extracted and compared with values from known discrete γ-rays as well as with the results from cranked shell model and cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky calculations. The systematics of the i 13 2 neutron orbital is investigated.

The moments of inertia Jeff(2) are measured for 130Ce and 129La, which were produced in the reaction (118 MeV) 12C on 124Te and identified by means of Ge(Li)-gates. Comparison with other measurements of discrete gamma transitions and of Jband(2) are made.

Abstract The effective moment of inertia J eff (2) of 118 Xe and 130 Ba has been measured using sum-spectrometer techniques. The data are discussed using arguments based on particle alignments and results of cranking calculations. J band (2) and J eff (2) are compared in order to estimate the contribution of particle alignments to the total increase in angular momentum.

The effective moment of inertiaIeff(2) of132Ce,134Nd and136Nd produced in40Ar induced reactions has been deduced from continuumγ-ray spectra measured by sum spectrometer methods. Results concerning the deformation of these nuclei are obtained by comparison of the experimental data and calculations in the frame of a cranking Nilsson — Strutinsky model.
