Precise determination of Stokes shifts in stimulated-Brillouin-scattering-active substances with the use of Brillouin loop lasers pumped by Gaussian monochromatic beams

A method for determination of Stokes shifts in stimulated Brillouin scattering is suggested and implemented; the method is based on the jumplike behavior of the spatial structure of the emission of a Brillouin loopscheme laser upon change in the loop length in the vicinity of ΔkBL=π(2n+1), where ΔkB is the Brillouin shift,L is the loop length, andn is an integer.

Modernization of a Fabry–Perot Etalon

A simple technical solution is proposed to increase the resolution of Fabry–Perot etalons (cavity standards) by increasing the distance between mirrors using parts from factory-made IT28-30 Fabry–Perot etalon sets.

Functional-discrete transformation of analog signals

A pulsed method for transformation of discrete values of analog signals into coded temporal form and for inverse transformation into discrete values of transformed signals is described; the method ensures the continuity of the transformed discrete value to the discrete value of the analog signal to be transformed. The method is based on the use of two independently generated signals in the shape of nonrectangular pulses. One of these signals is generated with the use of synchronizing pulses, is involved in functional interrelation with the analog signal, and is employed for coding. The other signal is generated with the use of the same synchronizing pulses, is proportional to the first signal, and is used for decoding.
