POWERFUL MICROSECOND DISCHARGES IN FLASH LAMPS

This paper develops practical recommendations for the matching of the electric circuitry with coaxial flash lamps in the case of micro-second discharges. Coaxial light sources were selected because they have superior characteristcs for the pumping of lasers on the basis of organic compounds. The instantaneous values of the discharge current and of the voltage at the coaxial flash lamp were determined from oscillograms of the pulses applied simultaneously to the input of an s8-2 double-beam oscilloscope from a Rogowski coil and from a resistive voltage divider. The relative difference between the calculated and experimental values of the peak power of the discharge are shown. The results allow one to combine an electric circuit and a flash lamp with certain discharge characteristics.
