We report on our recent electron scattering experiment off 96Zr. The B (E2; 01 +→22 +) transition strength is extracted in a relative analysis and allows the determination of all decay strengths of the 22 + state. The strong collectivity of the 22 + → 02 + transition establishes the 02 + state and the states build on top of it as an isolated deformed band.

In high-resolution (,) experiments under 0° the complete B(E1) strength distribution can be studied in stable nuclei. At the Research Center of Nuclear Physics in Osaka, Japan, the cross sections and observables for the polarization transfer of E1 and M1 excitations in 120Sn were measured for scattering angles Θ = 0° − 4° in an excitation energy range of 5 - 25 MeV. From the present measurement the complete B(E1) strength distribution and the branching ratios of the PDR to the ground state can be extracted. The experimental setup, the principle of backgound subtraction and first results on the E1 strength are presented.

Low-lying collective vibrational excitations of 92Zr have been investigated with electron scattering at the S-DALINAC. The form factors of isospin polarized one-quadrupole phonon states of 92Zr at the Z = 40 proton subshell closure have been measured and the momentum-transfer dependence of the form factors for the one-quadrupole phonon states have been compared to the prediction of the Quasiparticle Phonon Model. The E2 transition strengths of the one-quadrupole phonon states and the E3 transition strength of the one-octupole phonon state have been extracted. A comparison to the data on 94Mo and previous spectroscopic information on mixed-symmetric states (MSSs) of 92Zr will be given.

Experimental technique for measuring proton inelastic scattering with high‐resolution at 295 MeV and at forward angles including zero degrees is described. The method is useful for extracting spin part of the M1 strength via nuclear excitation as well as E1 strength via Coulomb excitation. An excitation energy resolution of 20 keV, good scattering angle resolution, and low background condition have been achieved. The experimental technique was applied for several sd and pf shell nuclei.
