Bulk and nano sized rhombohedral NaTi2(PO4)3 belonging to NASICON family have been prepared by sol-gel method at low temperatures. The products are characterised by powder X-ray diffraction, Raman, SEM and TEM methods. The phase formation of NaTi2(PO4)3 was started at 550°C. The crystallite sizes of NaTi2(PO4)3 prepared at 550°C and 600°C were found to be 35 nm and 37 nm respectively. The nano nature of the samples was confirmed from the line width of powder XRD and Raman lines. The Raman spectra are characterised by bands due to isolated phosphate groups and Ti-O vibrational modes. The morphology of nano crystallites was found to be irregular. The average particle size calculated from TEM was found to be 30 nm and 35 nm for the samples heated at 550°C and 600°C respectively. The high resolution TEM image clearly shows the lattice fringes corresponding to the rhombohedral lattice of NaTi2(PO4)3.

A Study on Predictors of GDP: Early Signals☆

K. Hema Divya; V. Rama Devi

Abstract Financial Architecture aims sustainability of an economy by ensuring consistent growth rate.GDP is an indicator of the growth of an economy. Higher GDP of an economy reflects robust growth of an economy and vice-versa and as such every country tries to maximise the growth rate of GDP .There are certain macro factors operating in the economic environment that will influence the GDP growth rate. The study makes an attempt to determine the influence of selected economic variables namely Inflation, Exchange rate, Foreign exchange reserves, FIIs, Sensex, Balance of Payments and Current Fiscal Deficit on the GDP of an economy. The data is collected by using secondary sources relating to the selected Economic variables. The data is collected for a period of 15 years i.e. from 01-04-1997 to 31-03-2012 with annual intervals. The scope of the study is confined only to selected economic variables only. Correlation and ANOVA are used for analyzing the relationship between the GDP and selected economic variables. The study revealed that Exchange rate, Sensex and Balance of Payment reflected by current and capital account balances are the factors that significantly predict GDP of the economy.

Impact of International Financial Flows on Indian Stock Markets – An Empirical Study

K.S.Venkateswara Kumar; V. Rama Devi

FDI and FII have become instruments of international economic integration and stimulation. Fast growing economies like Singapore, China, Korea etc have registered incredible growth at onset of FDI. Though US captures most of the FDI inflows, developing countries still account for significant growth of FDI and rise in FII. FDI not only gives access to foreign capital but also provides domestic countries with cutting edge technology, desired skill sets, tools of innovation and other complementary skills. The policies drafted to stimulate the flow of foreign capital in to India provided much needed impetus for India to emerge as an attractive destination for foreign investors. External factors such as global economic cues, FDI & FII, Exchange rate and Internal factors such as demand and supply, market cap, EPS generally drive and dictates the Indian stock market. The current paper makes an attempt to study the relationship and impact of FDI & FII on Indian stock market using statistical measures correlation coefficient and multi regression for 12 years data starting from 2001 to 2012. Sensex and Nifty were considered as the representative of stock market as they are the most popular Indian stock market indices.

Bhawana Rana; V. Rama Devi

Social recruitment is the one of the recent trends in recruitment practices to attract the quality talent. The study aims to investigate the reasons of usage of social media, to study the perception of job seekers towards social media activities, to determine the most popular social media used for job search, and to investigate the association between the demographic variables and the usage of social media for job hunting. The sample size for the study consists of 100 respondents out of which 23 are currently employed and 77 are either unemployed or students. Regarding the reasons for the usage of social media, the first rank was assigned to networking followed by making friends and job search was assigned third rank. The findings of the study revealed that Facebook is preferred in terms of the most used social media for job search. It was also found that usage of social media for job hunting is not significantly related to candidates age, gender, marital status, employment status, work experience, and whether the candidate is an active or a passive job seeker; however, it is significantly related to the educational qualification of the candidates.

A Study on Impact of Micro Factors on Share Prices of Companies in Sensex

K. Hema Divya; V. Rama Devi

Investment is an essential element for the growth of the country. Investment translates economy into a robust economy. The goal of Financial Management is to maximize the wealth of shareholders. An investor has to make an appropriate decision of which shares are to be purchased or to be sold by examining the Micro factors which determine the fluctuations in the share prices and indirectly the wealth of shareholders. The present study makes an attempt to identify the relationship between the market price and selected five variables namely EPS, Price-Earnings ratio, Price to book ratio, book value and yield among 27 selected scrips in BSE Sensex. The data is collected by using secondary sources. Prowess database of CMIE is used in collecting data relating to the selected explanatory variables. The data is collected for a period of four years i.e. from 01-04-2008 to 31-03-2012 with quarterly intervals. The scope of the study is confined only to selected explanatory variables and to selected scrips in Sensex. These selected scrips belong to 10 sectors. Correlation and ANOVA are used for analyzing the relationship between the market price and selected explanatory variables.
