The first sandwich-type complexes have been prepared for tetrabenzotriazaporphyrin ligands. The compounds reveal intrinsic UV-Vis/NIR absorption as well as peculiar electrochromic behavior. The heteroleptic (tetrabenzotriazaporphyrinato)(phthalocyaninato) lutetium derivative shows intermediate spectral and electrochemical properties with respect to homoleptic relatives.

Synthesis of chalcones on the basis of Pyridin-2(1H)-one

Pyridin-2(1H)-one derivatives form chalcones in the Claisen-Schmidt condensation with aromatic and heteroaromatic aldehydes in the presence of bases. For various aldehydes and pyridinones, four main methods are developed. They allow expected chalcones to be prepared in the highest yields.

Features of reaction of aromatic nitro-substituted aldehydes with ketones on the matrix of 2(1H)-pyridone

Condensation of nitrobenzaldehydes with 3-acetyl-4,6-dimethyl-2(1H)-pyridone gives rise to chalcones with high yield. Condensation of the close analogs of 3-acetyl-4,6-dimethyl-2(1H)-pyridone containing ethyl and benzyl radical was established to give stable products of aldol condensation, the corresponding alcohols, under the same conditions.

A convenient route to 9,10-dicyano-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydrophenanthrene

Aiming to synthesize tetrasubstituted phthalocyanines, we attempted to prepare 9,10-dicyano-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydrophenanthrene, a representative of symmetrically substituted phthalodinitriles. Synthesis of such phthalodinitriles by traditional methods is very difficult. However, using our previously developed approaches [1], we succeessfully prepared the target compound by the following scheme.
