A Technique for Seabed Mining

The paper deals with the necessity to look for other potential uses of unconventional sources of raw materials to meet the growing needs of human society. The first part of the paper contains the overview of the materials located in seas and oceans. This part describes the alternatives of mining, the dredging systems for extreme depths and the functional structure of the hoisting mechanism for dredging as well. The second part of the paper describes the future prospects for the extraction of minerals from seas and oceans.

Selection of Excavators for Earth Work on the Basis of their Performance

For the specific construction of the reconstruction of the railway section Ostrov nad Oslavou and Žďar nad Sazavou will be done removed the railway superstructure and the partial adjustment of the substructure including drainage. For the earthwork will be used excavators of the company Komatsu, with the possibility of adjustment of parameters of the working tool – the length of the bracket and the volume of the shovel. The determined value will be purely indicative, as it does not affect how the operator of the excavator handles the discharge of cargo means.

Conveyor new concept for parcel logistics in air transport

Parcel logistics is characterized by transport performance steep increase and current performance reachs 20 000 parcels an hour. In the company DHL anticipates increase in 50 000 parcels an hour. It is one possibility how manage it. They are transport systems with new conception of functional structure. The contribution introduces groundbreaking concept of conveyor – peristaltical conveyor. It was produced in Frauenhofer-Institut IFF Magdeburg and Institute of Logistics and Material Handling Systems Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg.

Human Factor Case – Tool for Systematic Identification and Management of Human Factor Issues for Air Traffic Management Project

This paper presents human factor as a crucial element of flight safety. It is a generally known fact that human factors play an important role in incidents and accidents in aviation, especially regarding pilots and technical personnel, as well as air traffic controllers. The amount of air transport grows dramatically year by year as the saturation of air traffic service airspace similarly increases, filled with sporting (amateur) aviation, military, and other flights (aero-medical, sightseeing flights, etc.). The relationship between human performance and safety has been a long-standing issue with Air Traffic Control authorities, since human performance is considered to be a critical determinative for Air Traffic Management safety.
