Abstract Trans (or cis ) -dichloroethylene leads to trans (or cis )-1-chloroalkenes when treated with Grignard reagents and to trans (or cis )-1-chloro-1-en-3-ynes when treated with terminal acetylenes. A simple synthesis of (7E, 9Z)-dodecadien-1-yl acetate has been realized.

Stereoselective preparation of 1-chloro-(E,E)-1,3-dienes. Application to the synthesis of methyl eleostearate

Abstract The nickel (or palladium) catalyzd reaction of alkenylalanes with (E)-di-chloroethylene affords 1-chloro-(E,E)-1,3-dienes under mild conditions. The syntheses of methyl α-eleostearate which is reported to be a feeding deterrent for the boll weevil on cotton, and one of its isomers, methyl punicate, are described.

Abstract Various stable substituted benzylic zincs are formed in acetonitrile upon reaction of the bromide derivatives, in good yields, using a catalytic electrogenerated zinc species associated with massive zinc. In the presence of chlorotrimethylsilane, these organozincs react instantaneously with functionalized aromatic aldehydes.
