The probable recharge zone delimitation of Entre-Ribeiros Basin (Northwest of the state of Minas Gerais / Brazil) is proposed in this study. The delimitation is based upon stratigraphy, geomorphology, geo-environmental domains and hydrogeology studies. Combining the recharge zone map with the land use variation between 1975 and 2008, the occupation trends of possible recharge zones are identified. Concluding, the environmental impacts for this basin are discussed.

The quantification of flow components is important for water resource management. The base, interflow, and runoff flows of nested basins of the Paracatu River (SF-7) were estimated with recursive signal filters in this study. At first, stationary analysis and multivariate gap filling were applied to the flow data. A methodology is presented, proposing filter calibration with the runoff influence and inflection of the recession curve for dry season. Filters are improved with a logic constraint that limits water flow overestimation within algorithm iteration. The results were coherent with previous studies and with hydrogeological and climatological maps.

As Bacias de Paracatu, Sao Marcos, Alto Paranaiba e Sao Mateus foram investigadas. nPalavras-chave: hidrogeoquimica; aquiferos; recarga; Noroeste de Minas Gerais. n n nABSTRACT nThis a proposal of a methodology for the characterization of hydrogeochemistry signature of water ways in interflow recharge zones of neighbouring watersheds. The method is based in the systematic sampling and chemical analysis of underground and sources of water.

The soil map and the agricultural aptness map are important tools for Brazilian agricultural and livestock sustainable territorial management. In this paper, the Paracatu River Basin Soil map has been updated, in a 1:250.000 scale. A methodology is proposed to adequate the chart to the new Brazilian Soil Classification System. Thus, the Soil map is applied to develop an agricultural aptness map, via a new adjusted approach to FAO/Brazilian System. The maps Will be useful for the sustainable planning of the basin. The proposed agricultural aptness methodology can better conciliate the agriculture with the environmental conservation. Thus, it is possible to replicate the methodology to other regions.

POLLINATOR FORAGING STRATEGY IN Galactia peduncularis (BENTH.) TAUB. (LEGUMINOSAE: PAPILIONOIDEA) IN THE PARQUE ESTADUAL DA SERRA DE CALDAS NOVAS BRAZIL The way the animals look for food is an important characteristic of their behavior. The optimal foraging theory is based on the existence of a balance between costs and benefits of these behavioral decisions. The present study aimed to evaluate the behavior of the pollinator in response to increased availability of floral resources. The experiment was conducted in a recently burned Cerrado area (Campo rupestre) in the State Park of Serra de Caldas Novas , located in the municipalities of Caldas Novas and Rio Quente Brazil. The species chosen to test our hypothesis was Galactia peduncularis (Benth.) Taub. (Leguminosae: Papilionoidea). 17 pairs of specimens were selected with a number of flowers, and the individuals of each pair were spaced by about 2m. In these pairs, one of them was considered the focal, and the other, the isolated. To test possible differences in pollination between isolated plants and focus, we performed two randomization tests: a test binary (TB), where all pairs were analyzed and verified the number of times where the focus on the individual floral visits were higher than the number of visits in isolated. According to the data analyzed, floral visitors preferred to use plants that could provide a greater amount of floral resources so that the number of visitors varied positively with the increment of flowers. Plants with many flowers can provide a greater amount of food in one location so that visitors do not need to flower around for long distances in search of meeting their energy needs.
