Vadim M. Polyakov; V. V. Vitkin; Vyacheslav A. Buchenkov; Andrey U. Rodionov

A compact eye-safe laser for atmosphere lidar was developed. The device is Nd:YLF laser with KTP OPO, wavelength is 1,54 um, repetition rate is 50 Hz and Q-switched pulse energy is 8 mJ. The laser rod and laser diodes are conductive cooled. The device has run tests with 5×105 shots without parameter decrease.

We demonstrate a compact Er:glass single-rod fiber laser for rangefinding with 1 mJ energy Q-switched at 1.54μm. Double-pass pumping with 16 W power and 5 ms pulse duration was used. Active medium was enveloped with diffuse reflector. Thus efficient output power operation achieved. Free-running mode output pulse energy was 12 mJ with a slope efficiency of 16%. Transparent glass-ceramics containing Co2+:MgAl2O4 nanocrystals were selected as the optimal passive gate to ensure Q-switching in a temperature range and transverse mode selection. The Q-switch mode had steady operation at 1 Hz repetition rate with thermal effects playing no visible role.

1,64 mkm Er:YAG laser resonantly pumped by a solid state Er:glass laser

Vyacheslav A. Buchenkov; D. I. Zhuk; S. I. Klimentev; Vadim M. Polyakov; A. Yu Rodionov

We report on theoretical and experimental studies of Er :YAG pulsed laser working in a quasi-three-level scheme. A numerical simulation of an optical multiple laser scheme is carried out. Electro-optically Q-switched operation of an Er:YAG laser at 1645 nm end-pumped by a laser Er-Yb phosphate glass is demonstrated. Pulse energies up to 3 mJ have been generated at a pulse repetition frequency of 10 Hz.

Ultra compact eye-safe laser for rangefinding

V. V. Vitkin; Vadim M. Polyakov; Artem A. Kharitonov; Vyacheslav A. Buchenkov

We demonstrate an eye-safe diode pumped ultra compact Yb:Er:glass laser with 3 mJ pulse energy in free running mode with repetition rate 1 Hz. We investigate phototropic gates for Yb:Er:glass lasers. The developing laser operates in a wide temperature range.

Vadim M. Polyakov; V. V. Vitkin; Dmitriy I. Lychagin; Aleksandr A. Krylov; Vyacheslav A. Buchenkov; Sergey V. Kashcheev

A compact laser for airborne lidar was developed. Laser wavelength is 1047 nm and its suggested further to pump SHG and FHG. Pulse energy is 100 mJ Q-switched, repetition rate is 250 Hz. We use efficient pump system with 67% absorption efficiency, fluid coolant for laser rods and laser diodes. The laser head volume is 5 cube decimeter.

Eye-safe DPSSL-based TOF-camera for geodesy

Anton V. Kovalev; Vadim M. Polyakov; Vyacheslav A. Buchenkov

Summary form only given. A new TOF camera design is presented based on a compact eye-safe actively Q-switched diode pumped Er:glass laser and a receiver system based on focal plane array of short wave infrared InGaAs PIN diodes with a special readout integration circuit and an image intensifier. The developed camera is operable for distances up to 4 kilometers with 10 frame/s and 2.5 m resolution. The camera could be applied for airborne and space geodesy location and navigation.

Optimal pumping for eye-safe Er:YAG laser

Vyacheslav A. Buchenkov; Vadim M. Polyakov; Andrey Yu. Rodionov; Anton V. Kovalev

We report on theoretical investigation of quasi-three level Er:YAG laser. We propose a numerical model of the laser design with side pump by 1471 nm laser diodes. The model describes the dynamical propagation of the pump in the cavity and the kinetic parameters of the active medium.

Anton V. Kovalev; Vadim M. Polyakov; Vyacheslav A. Buchenkov

We present a new TOF camera design based on a compact actively Q-switched diode pumped solid-state laser operating in 1.5 μm range and a receiver system based on a short wave infrared InGaAs PIN diodes focal plane array with an image intensifier and a special readout integration circuit. The compact camera is capable of depth imaging up to 4 kilometers with 10 frame/s and 1.2 m error. The camera could be applied for airborne and space geodesy location and navigation.

Side Diode Pumped Ultra-Compact Er:Glass Laser

V. V. Vitkin; Vadim M. Polyakov; Artem A. Kharitonov; Vyacheslav A. Buchenkov; Andrey Yu. Rodionov

We demonstrate side pumped ultra-compact Q-switched Er:glass laser for rangefinding with 1.4 mJ energy at 1.54 um. Laser diode with 75 W power and 5 ms pulse duration was used. Active medium was enveloped with diffuse reflector. Output pulse energy in free-running mode was 27 mJ with a slope efficiency of 12%. Transparent glass-ceramics containing Co2+:MgAl2O4 nanocrystals were used as a passive gate to ensure Q-switching in an operation temperature range and transverse mode selection. The Q-switch mode had steady operation at 1 Hz repetition rate with thermal effects playing no visible role.
