Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans with metastases treated with methotrexate

Catalino B. Mendoza; Walter H. Gerwig; Alvin L. Watne

Summary A case is reported of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, which was unresponsive to x-ray therapy and steriods, but which responded to intra-arterial infusion of 4-amino-N 10 -methyl pteroylglutamic acid sodium and to formyl tetrahydropteroylglutamic. This sensitivity of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans to the afore-mentioned drugs may prove of value in treatment of the disease.

Interstitial cell tumor of the testis

Walter H. Gerwig; L.Kenneth Countryman; Isabella Harrison; Raymond G. Gottschalk

Abstract A patient in whom marked bilateral gynecomastia developed resulting from a benign interstitial cell adenoma of the testicle is herewith presented. Seven years after treatment he remains healthy and well. This relatively uncommon lesion and its relationship to the other testicular tumors is discussed. It is emphasized that the age of onset in the development of such a tumor determines the ultimate clinical picture encountered. The prognosis of benign interstitial cell adenoma of the testis after removal appears to be excellent in contrast to malignant tumors.

Abstract A study of 599 patients who underwent gastric surgery at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Clarksburg, West Virgina, between 1951 and 1971 was conducted.
